The Nerd’s Eye View crew reviews 50/50, and one of them just wasn’t impressed. Andrew and Matt go over the news in video games, including some Arkham City talk. Thom and Andrew delve into Community Fantasy League discussion. The CBYHS theme for the week is “Body Part/Anatomy in the title” and it sure is a head-scratcher. The three trailers for Trailer Trash are John Dies at the End (2012), The 3 R’s (Oct 20), and Being Elmo: A Puppeteers Journey (N/A). And at the end are three more entries for Guess the Ending. In Defense of Seth Rogen

nevpodcast:

By Thomas Willett

This past weekend, I saw 50/50. For a full review, check out Thursday’s show, episode 30. However, to briefly state my opinion, this felt tailored to me. I love movies about characters, preferably in a comedic state. Being a fan of James L. Brooks’ earlier films, I can see a lot of the influence on director Jonathan Levine’s work. I won’t waste your time with the reasoning why Joseph Gordon-Levitt may be one of the greatest young actors currently working (does Brick or(500) Days of Summer not prove it?). I won’t waste your time discussing Levine’s other movie the Wackness (featuring the immortal line “I just look at the dopeness. But you, it’s like you just look at the wackness, ya know?”).

Thom watches Planet of the Apes(the real story is how) and continues with Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop. Andrew finds two things wrong with the title of Naked Lunch, wonders if Marge is a better lead to A Streetcar Named Desire and ponders what is happening in Revolver. Matt goes to Metropolis and finds it grand, gets Lost In Translation with Scarlett Johansson and meets some Strangers on a Train. In the news, Arrested Devlopment might be getting big and small screen treatments. Also, box office top ten, new releases and birthdays with a special birthday themed song parody by Thom. We review Killer Elite, the latest from Jason Statham and Clive Owen. Then, Matt and Andrew talk about new video game releases, including Civilization V Game of the Year Edition. Andrew and Thom introduce a new weekly fixture, where they recap the happenings in Community Fantasy League. CBYHS is more of the same, with the theme of “Color in the title.” The three trailers are Twixt(TBA), Goon(TBA), and J. Edgar(11/9). A new twist in Guess the Ending means three different movies get guessed, including Courageous, Sarah Palin: You Betcha!, and What’s Your Number?. Audience, Interrupted

Go ahead, laugh. Thank you. I appreciate it. But the fact is, I’m here. Now, tomorrow you’ll know I wasn’t kidding… and you’ll think I was crazy. But, look, I figure it this way. Better to be king for a night than a schmuck for a lifetime.”

-Robert De Niro, the King of Comedy (1983)

It’s been weird adjusting to the new Fall TV season. I’m not just talking about new programming. Even the selected time slots for reruns have become a conflict. I’m used to two episodes of the Simpsons a night on FOX. Now, there’s only one. I have been looking to find a gap for those nights I don’t want to watch it’s replacement, the Big Bang Theory.

And They Thought I Stunk

“Everybody loves a clown, so why can’t you?
A clown has feelings, too. “
 – Gary Lewis and the Playboys “Everybody Loves a Clown.”

This past Monday was a big night for Charlie Sheen. His show Two and a Half Men gained it’s best ratings in six years. He was also the subject of the most recent Comedy Central Roast. This guy is unstoppable, right?
